In July 2013 mpe invested £2m in Woodall Nicholson Holdings Limited to fund a BIMBO and provide an exit for the previous majority shareholders. The business is headquartered in Westhoughton, Lancashire.

The business can trace its roots back to 1820 and is the country's leading manufacturer of funeral vehicles. The business is also a leading manufacturer of accessible minibuses and carries out specialist conversions for the 'Blue Light' emergency services.

During the investment period, the company made 5 acquisitions, increased its turnover 4 fold and its profits 8 fold.

The group currently employs over 600 staff and operates from 9 production sites in the UK and Europe.

In March 2020 mpe successfully exited its investment by way of a secondary buy out backed by Rutland Partners. In 2023 the business was acquired by Belgian industrial entrepreneur Guido Dumarey.
