Who We Are

Mosaic Private Equity (mpe) was established in 2006 by Paul Newton and Mike Rogan, having worked together in Private Equity since 1999.

One of the first investors was Paul Hogarth who has worked with the team since 2007.

mpe specialises in working closely with management teams who require more than just capital. A relationship with mpe is a long term one, focussed on value creation with ongoing management support along the way.

The team is small and invest their own money. All decisions are taken by them and ongoing monitoring is carried out by them. There are no remote investment committees or portfolio monitoring teams – each and every investment gets full personal attention.

mpe is not a traditional closed end LP fund.  Each deal is assessed on its own merits and bespoke funding put in place.  Funds come from the founders own resources and a select group of HNW individuals who have all built their own businesses.

As each deal stands on its own merits, timelines and returns expectations can be managed accordingly. There is no pressure created on individual deals as a consequence of fund life cycles or the performance of other deals within a fund.

Typical equity investment levels range from £0.5m to £5m.

The Team

  • Paul Newton

    DIRECTOR AND SHAREHOLDER

    Paul co-founded mpe in 2006 and has over 30 years of experience in structured finance and private equity, having previously held senior roles with Royal Bank of Scotland, Murray Johnstone and Aberdeen Asset Management.

    His particular area of interest/expertise is engineering related investments and financial services.

    Paul graduated in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Sheffield and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

  • Mike Rogan

    DIRECTOR AND SHAREHOLDER

    Mike co-founded mpe in 2006 and has 25 years of experience in Private Equity investing, having previously held senior roles with Murray Johnstone and Aberdeen Asset Management.

    Prior to that he held roles with Lawrence Graham and Addleshaw Goddard, advising Private Equity clients and management teams on transactions.

    His particular areas of interest/expertise are financial services, Saas and F&B/leisure related investments.

    Mike graduated in Law from the University of Sheffield and is a Solicitor.

  • Paul Hogarth

    SHAREHOLDER

    Paul has been investing with mpe since 2007 and is involved in all investment decisions.

    He is the Chief Executive Officer of Tatton Asset Management plc and has over 30 years of experience in Financial Services.

    Paul graduated in Economics from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.
